In my 18 years as an educator, I have enjoyed working with students from kindergarten through the college level. I am certified to teach K-8, Special Education P-12, Reading, and English 4-12. I earned my Masters in Teaching from Seattle University.
I have enjoyed being a classroom teacher, a college educator, and a remediation specialist. My work with students identified with learning disabilities at the college level propelled me to pursue a Special Education endorsement at the University of Washington, Tacoma. I am proud to say that this program is well-grounded in research-based practices, and has given me invaluable resources and collaborative opportunities.
Over the past two years, I have also been trained in multi-sensory therapies designed to teach reading and math skills to students who need further sensory input to master foundational skills. Students receiving this remediation attend frequent, explicitly taught sessions in order to attain grade level goals.
I am a member of several professional organizations, which give me access to up-to-date research and information pertinent to my work: International Dyslexia Association, the Council for Exceptional Children and the International Reading Association.
I currently teach in the Learning Assistance Program at an area middle school. I look forward to finding how I may be of service to you or your child.
